WayNet.org is one of the most widely visited and comprehensive web resources related to Richmond and Wayne County. It showcases all sides of our community through news, history, photos, calendar of events, helpful resource directories, and much more. It serves as a public face to those wishing to learn more about the area and visit.
Many people don't realize that WayNet.org is a non-profit organization run by a single staff person and a small group of volunteer board members. With limited funding from members and stretched time resources, the project hasn't been able to fully achieve what it's capable of. Richmond and Wayne County businesses and government entities should step up to more fully fund this important organization and reinforce the economic development and marketing resources it brings.

The funding for this
The funding for this excellent website should be 100% local government...actually, WayNet should be Wayne County's official website... (and the existing county government site information should be moved to this site & maintained by WayNet).
Thanks for the suggestion,
Thanks for the suggestion, Chris!
One simple way to increase WayNet's funding is if every current member would encourage one other business to join WayNet.org. It's a win-win option. Not only does it bring additional funding to this important community resource - it also brings additional information to our website - which brings more visitors - who can then easily find member's websites. In the process, those visitors will also learn about our great community and the businesses and opportunities available here.
We have five different levels of membership, so it's businessess and organizations can easily find a price/exposure point that works best for their situation. They can sign up online here: http://www.waynet.org/waynet/application.htm
