Back years ago, about 10, I was at a Gus Macker basketball game on a Satruday am at IUE where hundreds of young people were participating in the sport. I recall sitting there and thinking to myself - how will these young people ever financially make it living in Richmond? Will they have to move away? I had hoped not, since I have three children of my own. As it turns out I had to move away due to the limited employment opportunities in Richmond. I recalled that Dr. Vermalley from IUE was a big proponent on the laws of economics, especially the law of Supply and Demand. I then connected the two in my mind and figured out that if there was some way to create a demand for Richmond ~ would it be possible to have more work in the area? I sat out and created www.RichmondIndiana.com which was to be a website where the People of Richmond, those that live here and those that left for various reasons, a place where we could all meet-up (long before the website Meet-up). A virtual meeting.

Facebook does a much better job of doing by the use of computer skills what I had intended, so we now use Facebook. Come on over www.RichmondIndiana.com

I see this site proves my point, it looks like RichmondBrainstorm has been up and running just a few months, less than a year and look at the many ideas that have been shared. There are a few problems in our town, but one thing sure - the great minds that made Richmond famous for flying airplanes and inventing moving pictures, roller skates and high school orchestras have not all got up and moved away. Richmond's best days are ahead and not behind! Great website. Wish I'd thought of it!
