Time banking is simply about spending an hour doing something for somebody in your community. That hour goes into the Time Bank as a Time Dollar. Then you have a Time dollar to spend on having someone doing something for you. It's a simple idea, but it has powerful ripple effects in building community connections.
A few years ago, a group of people in Richmond created the Wayne County Time Bank. We set up an organizational structure, launched a website with time dollar tracking software, and even conducted a few orientation sessions. Today, the Time Bank project is dormant, but waits ready to be relaunched and promoted!

Hey Richmond Time Bank
Hey Richmond Time Bank Supporters!
We're a group of Earlham students who are trying to get the time bank restarted in Richmond. We are currently planning a potluck to promote awareness, provide information, and make plans for getting this Time Bank started! We're looking at either the 23rd or 24th of October for this Potluck and will have it here on campus in the Comstock Room of Runyan Center. You will see flyers in the community soon!
We hope that if you are interested in this community-building program you will come to the meeting (potluck,) and take an active role in the Wayne County Time Bank.
If you're already interested in helping organize, we would greatly appreciate that. We need strong leaders from the community to take the vital leadership positions that the Time Bank needs. As Earlham students we are only part-time Richmond community members, but we are certainly invested in building our community. We hope that even after our involvement in this project comes to an end, it will continue and grow in Richmond.
If you have suggestions or ideas, please post here! I will be checking this often and we can get in touch.
Thank you thank you!
