With modern housing subdivisions and new retail developments, adding sidewalks is often a low priority if it even gets done at all. We all know that being able to walk to our destinations has benefits related to health and wellness, but is also an essential thing for some who don't have access to other forms of transportation.
Richmond should renew its sidewalk infrastructure:
- Develop zoning and city codes that require sidewalks be built into new developments
- Improve maintenance and cleaning of existing sidewalks
- Better publicize and enforce city codes related to sidwalk shoveling during snowy weather

I would like to have new side
I would like to have new side walk's i'm disabiled and can't walk with out cain or walker. But our side walk's in front of my home I own are to messed up. I trip alot and if I fall I can't stop my self. That will break somthing. So i'm all for new side walk's but put them were really needed. Stop giving those who have more and taking from those who don't. This is some of the reason this town is in turmoil. Selfishness and arogance is over top know wonder so many selling out and moving.
I really need new one on south 11th. from so e to so d can't walk any farther so this is all I need.
A specific case I'd like to
A specific case I'd like to see addressed is the missing sidewalk at the Purina plant.
Sidewalks! I think this
Sidewalks!
I think this is not only a great idea, but also an awareness issue. We drive down National Road at Glen Miller Park everyday. When the snow comes, residences and businesses do not shovel their sidewalks. The assumption, I think, is that we are a car/truck/van society and no one walks. Many people walk, and must walk to work and school. Often, middle schoolers on their way to Test MIddle School are forced either into the side gutters of the road, or walk in the middle turn lane because of unshoveled sidewalks.
Improving sidewalks, adding sidewalks, and shoveling sidewalks are all ways to bring awareness that alternative modes of transportation are valued and necessary.
