Create a "Take Pride in Richmond and Wayne County" program to improve our attitude towards our own community. We currently project a negative vision to others outside our area. I have heard it from business leaders from other cities (and right here in Richmond) all around us. We need to have more than 20 people working to "sell" this area. Lets get new groups organized, Not use the same old approach by the same old group of community leaders who have lost faith in our ability to attract new business.
Work to create a more positive attitude within the community

Yes a lot people are leaving
Yes a lot people are leaving Richmond or Indiana. No jobs or opportunties. Some of highest umemployment, droput rates and job closure and not much culture, Becoming a retirement town. Everybody moving to Indianapolis or out of whole state.
We need better leader and Business leader and Visionary to change Richmomd and Indiana as whole.
One more thing we need cleanup a lot of area's in Richmond expecially all slum lords and housing and some of the apartments.
I even hear there going be budget shortfall next year with not tax base only going to get worse with no job growth in Richmond.
I here IU East has the hight registration in history. I see why no jobs and people have do something. A lot will probably have to move to get a decent paying job and quality of life.
The last time I heard unempplyment was 11% and might be down slighty.
Jf anybody reads this needs to wake up smell coffee and pray this town one day will change for better.
All young people all want move. There no future here
Any replies or solutions or ideals please reply.
I think this would happen
I think this would happen naturally if people were given things to be proud of. For as long as I can remember we've had adults and minors working the same jobs, the public parks have gone to almost ruin, the streets aren't maintained, the police are ineffective, and despite have 3 colleges their is a large percentage of the population that is functionally illiterate.
I don't have a solution to any of these problems but I think that they need to be solved before anyone can begin to take pride in this town.
Not only should we take pride
Not only should we take pride in our city, but we should be highlighting its good points so that people out there know about them. But I am not convinced that just wearing buttons, etc. means much of anything. If we worked together to keep our city clean, if we were friendly and supportive of each other's efforts, if we each contributed in some way to making Richmond an even better place to live, people would be more attracted to us and want to be part of what we have. Much of what needs doing is more a matter of our time than it is our money, so let's go for it.
