Beyond Facebook
I realize that if we have anything in common when it comes to what we all do online, it has to be Facebook.
It has become so popular that it seems everyone you talk to has an account and hangs out there. But what I'm also realizing is it has become a lot like AOL used to be: a place where people go and stay for the most part, without venturing out of Facebook to other sites on the web.
One of the problems for locals has been there wasn't much else to do to meet up with people in our area and find out what's going on.

I think the pal-item website shouls use somehting like drupal or joomla to power their site, also the lack of a RSS feed is kind of annoying. I'm not trying to be picky but they really seem to be behind in adapting to things that have basically become standard and commonplace on the web. I think we should convince them to use a free and opensource content management system, along with that they will have the added benefit of having RSS feeds, more control over their site, and a lot more flexabillity. What do the rest of you think?

Richmond needs something. Some motivation, energy, vivacity, revitalization, and a rekindling of the desire to share experiences with other people in the community. There is so much potential in this community for greatness. Let's tap into the roots of this place we live. Rejuvinate the rich history! We need to bring this flesh to LIFE! Richmond needs a better way to involve itself in the life of other communities as well. Let's use Richmond's location to our advantage. Specifically, the Depot.

Hi, all. I bought a house here on N 11th back in May (cf. the houseblog) for the grand total of $8000, and since then I've been walking the dog past a lot of other heart-meltingly beautiful (but vacant) brick houses. There's no economic reason to keep these houses around, unfortunately, so recently I've been trying to think of one before the city declares more of them unsafe; the idea that presents itself most obviously (to me) is to host entrepreneurs or other creative people.
